Steven Henager College adds graphic arts program
California College San Diego has recently announced the launch of an online bachelors degree in graphic arts program through Stevens-Henager College, its affiliate institution.
The accelerated occupational degree offering is designed to give students an opportunity to develop hands-on experience with a variety of graphic design applications, including web animation, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator as well as general web page design. Enrolled students will also have the opportunity to become introduced to programming languages, computer fundamentals and business concepts, such as marketing, internet management and database management.
Students earning their degree may pursue employment opportunities in an assortment of industries, including at print, electronic and interactive media companies.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment of graphic designers is expected to grow by 13 percent over the next 10 years. A bachelors degree in graphic design is usually required for most entry-level and advanced positions in the industry.
The National Association of Schools of Art and Design has accredited approximately 300 colleges and universities that have burgeoning graphic arts and graphic design programs.
