Online university alumna becomes dean of school
According to U.S. News and World Report, enrollment in online programs has increased by 832 percent to more than 2 million students in the past nine years. This may be a result of the growing number of job opportunities for graduates of web-based degree programs.
For example, Kimberly LaPrade – who earned her online PhD from Capella University – was recently named the new dean of Grand Canyon University (GCU) College of Education. LaPrade obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees through GCU’s distance learning programs.
Cheri St. Arnauld, provost of GCU, said that LaPrade brings tremendous value to the college due to the insights she gained during her years in the classroom and serving as department chair in a high-needs school district. She added that, as a graduate of this institution and associate dean, LaPrade has already proven her ability to engage and enhance the learning environment for our students.
LaPrade is the former associate dean of GCU’s College of Doctoral Studies as well as the former associate dean and assistant dean of the College of Education.
